Marvel fans have been anticipating the introduction of the Fantastic Four and X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since The Walt Disney Company completed the acquisition of 20th Century Fox. However, the Writers and Actors' strikes that started over the summer have slowed down the production of various movies including Deadpool 3, but with the WGA deal now done and SAG seemingly about to follow suit, the MCU's version of the Fantastic Four may finally be announced soon.
In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel's Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman shared a few updates on the highly-anticipated Fantastic Four movie including when production will finally begin. "We are definitely gonna go in front of cameras next year. Probably the spring. [It will shoot in] London. Pinewood."
"It's different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific," the WandaVision filmmaker added. "I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can't. But I think it's going to be unlike anything you've seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you've seen before."
Marvel Studios and Disney haven't released movies starring the X-Men and Fantastic Four, but a few of them have already appeared. In 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans saw Patrick Stewart as a variant of Charles Xavier, who appeared alongside a variant of Mister Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four, played by John Krasinski.
When is the MCU Fantastic Four movie coming out?
Spring 2024 sounds about just right for Marvel's Fantastic Four movie's production start date considering that the reboot is currently scheduled to release on May 2, 2025 after several delays.
