Marvel Comics is set to launch a prequel series to the popular X-Men ‘97 animated series. Fans will go on a trip down memory lane for the much-anticipated Disney+ series, the events of which occur following the conclusion of the fan-favorite X-Men: The Animated Series. Marvel Studios officially confirmed that X-Men ‘97 is set to come out in 2024, alongside the recently retitled Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and the recently announced Eyes of Wakanda.
This means that fans should gear up for this animated series since all of their beloved X-Men are set to return to the screen. Moreover, the X-Men ‘97 prequel comic will help readers catch up on the heroes’ whereabouts to prepare them for the small reunion. The X-Men ‘97 comic book is a series that’s limited to four issues and is written by Steve Foxe (Dead X-Men, Dark X-Men) with art by Salva Espín (X-Men '92: House of XCII).
The series was produced in collaboration with the X-Men ‘97 directors, serving as a companion story to the show. In an interview with Marvel, Steve Foxe said:

The official description of the X-Men ‘97 prequel series reads, "In this official prelude, discover what Storm, Jubilee, Wolverine and the rest of the beloved '90s X-Men cast have been up to in the time before their return! Startling revelations here lead directly into the hotly anticipated new series – fans won't want to miss out!" Its cover was perfected by Todd Nauck and features Jean Grey, Cyclops, Rogue, Wolverine, Bishop, Storm, Beast, Gambit, and Jubilee.
What other Marvel shows were confirmed for Disney+ in 2024?
It looks like Marvel Studios is trying out a brand-new approach to streaming its content on Disney+. Instead of allowing fans to watch several shows in the MCU, 2024 is going to have only four confirmed Marvel series that’ll be available on Disney+ to watch. On top of X-Men ‘97, three other Marvel shows are releasing in 2024, which are Echo, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
Some of the shows without a confirmed release window are Daredevil: Born Again, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler’s Kingdom of Wakanda series, What If…? Season 3, Ironheart, and Wonder Man. The first one on the list is a reboot of the mature series that ran on Netflix for three years and is now going through a major creative overhaul following the replacements of its showrunner and writers. The show is now getting Loki co-directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson on board. So, let's wait and see what's in store for the fans!
