There is little doubt that One Piece is one of the most popular manga that is still releasing new chapters today. However, that doesn't seem to be enough for Iñaki Godoy. The actor who will play Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action Netflix series says he wants the entire world to know about Eiichiro Oda's work and he is sure that the upcoming show will make it possible.

Back in November 2021, it was announced that Iñaki Godoy had been cast as Monkey D. Luffy. Although he is a relative newcomer, Godoy immediately made it clear that he was chosen to play Luffy because he shares the character's enthusiasm and love for One Piece.

We already know that Godoy is loving the Straw Hats Pirates but how would he pitch a live-action adaptation of Oda's manga? In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Godoy started off by explaining that the series was made with love and good intentions.

"Well, the show is made by people who love One Piece. We love the manga, we love the anime, we think they're great. And the only thing we want to do is honor that and get more people into it," he said.

"We don't want to do anything else but honor the work of Mr. Oda and get more people to enjoy it too, because it's such a powerful story. And the whole world should know about it," Godoy continued.

But just how far-reaching is Godoy's ambition? "I mean, so many people know about One Piece already. But I want your grandpa to know what One Piece is. I want your grandma – I want everybody to know what One Piece is," he said.

Godoy continued, "And, for the people who are already fans, to be able to relive those iconic moments. And you know, there's something really special about seeing your favorite characters as real people too. There's a special kind of magic to it."

It's an awesome response to what could have been a loaded question. After all, some people have been skeptical about the live-action series since it was announced back in 2017. However, Godoy's infectious good vibes and the stunning trailer may have confirmed that this is the best way to introduce One Piece to new fans.
