If you could be anything in your life, what would it be? Most people would say a doctor, a nurse, even a teacher. However, that's not the case with Sylvie, who decides to work for McDonald's in the latest trailer of Loki Season 2. Interestingly, her decision to try working at the famous fast food chain is more than just a product placement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.
We already know that Loki Season 2 will feature Sylvie taking on an unexpected job at McDonald's and Marvel Studios even ensured that there would be a lot of buzz about the collaboration. However, it's not just about getting the support of the major franchise. As executive producer Kevin Wright confirms with Fast Company, McDonald's will play an important role in Sylvie's story.
But why McDonald's? Wright revealed that it has a lot to do with trying to get a sense of normalcy after she finally killed He Who Remains in the first season finale.
“This character had been on a decades-long, maybe centuries-long revenge mission, and the classic trope of those stories is that it’s all-consuming and she’s not thinking about what comes next. Now she has this moment of opportunity, where is she going to go?” Wright asks.
He certainly has a point there but why would Sylvie go to McDonald's in the first place? Sophie Di Martino says, “She’d probably be pretty hungry,” which is understandable since killing a seemingly immortal can work up an appetite. While there are other places to grab a bite, Wright insisted that McDonald's is the perfect place for Sylvie because of her idealized plan for a normal life.
“You play a Little League game and go to McDonald’s. You go to a kid’s birthday party at McDonald’s. Someone like Sylvie would never have experienced that, and would be really taken by that,” he said.
It's interesting to know that what should be normal is a huge enigma for Sylvie, but will her normal life working for McDonalds come to a close? We're certainly rooting for Sylvie in the second season.
Loki Season 2 will consist of six new episodes. The second season the beloved Marvel series will premiere on Disney+ on October 6, 2023.
