The first episode of Loki Season 2 featured an epic post-credits scene, which definitely should not be missed since it instantly became a major talking point for the series’ fans, who ended up noticing an exciting little indication to the Thor comic books. How exciting is that?
In Loki Season 2 Episode 1, titled Ouroboros, Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is completely lost to time and literally torn between past, present, and future. The episode hooks fans from the very start, introducing new mysteries and raising tons of new questions. However, there is one specific question that has piqued the viewers’ curiosity, which is regarding a Thor Easter egg.
The post-credits scene in the first episode teases Sylvie’s fate, who isn’t really seen in most of the episode. She goes out of a Time Door and ends up landing on a branched timeline after her execution of He Who Remains. Through a chyron on the screen, we are informed that Sylvie has somehow ended up in 1982, where she can be seen standing alone in a field in Broxton, Oklahoma.
Loki fans instantly noticed the location’s significance and went over to social media in order to highlight this particular connection to the Thor franchise. Broxton initially appeared in J. Michael Straczynski's 2007 Thor series, in which the God of Thunder recreated the kingdom of Asgard in Midgard and completely transformed it into a castle above the entire town.
Simply the mention of Broxton in Loki Season 2 has left the viewers questioning the significance of the scene to the plot. One fan on Reddit highlighted the Thor reference in the scene and wondered if Marvel will do “anything with it” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If they wanted, they could lead it to many more stories about the intersection of gods and mortals.
When you think about it, these questions actually make sense because Kevin Wright, the executive producer of Loki, did tease the possibility of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor showing up in an episode of the Disney+ series. During an interview with Variety, Wright said that telling the story of the two brothers has always been a priority. You can read his entire response below:
Whatever the case may be, Sylvie seems to be getting used to her new surroundings as she can be seen walking into a McDonald’s and ordering some food, but "not squirrel, not possum, not rat, something that's already dead – and nothing with a face." From the show’s marketing, we all know what’s going to happen next; she’ll eventually end up working at the fast food joint.
Loki Season 2 is officially out and releases new episodes each Thursday on Disney+ till November 9.
