Sony’s Spider-Man Universe continues in 2024. After the box-office bomb Madame Web and the upcoming Venom: The Last Dance, the story of the formidable big-game huntsman Sergei Kravinoff is about to hit the big screen. Over a year after the release of its first teaser, Sony Pictures Entertainment has finally dropped a new trailer for Kraven the Hunter. Aside from showcasing several action-packed scenes featuring Kraven himself, it also highlights Alessandro Nivola transforming into the Spider-Man villain, Rhino.
You can watch the Kraven The Hunter trailer below:
The preview for Kraven the Hunter begins with Nikolai speaking in the background, telling his son they are hunters while Kraven is inside a prison. As an inmate mocks Kraven, saying, "The hunter is a myth," an intense fight breaks out. Kraven fights off a group of prisoners, kills the one who insulted him and escapes from the prison.
The scene shifts to Calypso asking Kraven who his next victim will be. Back in the jungle, Calypso asks Kraven if he’s like his gangster and killer father. After taking down another group of hunters, Kraven finally confronts his father, Nikolai.
“My son, there’s an animal stronger than you can imagine,” Nikolai says as Alessandro Nivola’s Aleksei Sytsevich is seen slowly transforming into Rhino.
Aleksei begins searching for Kraven, while The Foreigner warns him that once he’s on the hunter’s list, “there’s only one way off.” From there, a high-octane battle ensues as Kraven launches his attack. He then confronts his estranged half-brother, Dimitri, who tries to discredit him by accusing him of being just another man hunting for a trophy without honor, like their father.
Despite the mockery, Nikolai tells Kraven to embrace who he really is. Later, Aleksei fully transforms into Rhino, making his first live-action appearance as he confronts Kraven, hinting at a great battle between the two. Following Nikolai’s advice, he tells Kraven he will eventually become “the legend.”
Sony has also released a couple of new posters for Kraven the Hunter. The first shows the titular character in his fiercest glory, with traces of blood splattered on his face. The other depicts him with a furious expression, looming above a smaller image of himself sitting on a throne atop a mound of skulls.

What is Kraven The Hunter about?
Kraven The Hunter will explore the origin story of one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains. It begins with Kraven’s complex relationship with his father, Nikolai, and soon follows him as he embarks on a ruthless path of vengeance. However, everything he does comes with brutal consequences, motivating him to become the world's greatest and most feared hunter.
You can read the Kraven The Hunter synopsis below:
Aaron Taylor-Johnson will lead the movie as Sergei Kravinoff / Kraven, alongside Ariana DeBose as Calypso. It will also see Fred Hechinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov / Chameleon, Alessandro Nivola as Aleksei Sytsevich / Rhino, Christopher Abbott as The Foreigner, and Russell Crowe as Nikolai Kravinoff.
With its intense action and gory scenes full of blood, it’s easy to see why Kraven the Hunter has received an R rating for "strong bloody violence and language." However, one thing fans are eager to see is whether it will debut a new live-action Spider-Man or introduce a new movie to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, especially since no further films have been announced after it. As Venom: The Last Dance will conclude the Venom trilogy and Kraven the Hunter is believed to be a standalone film, the latter could be a promising way to wrap up the franchise.
Kraven The Hunter is set to hit theaters on December 13.
