The game is officially out of the console. Sony Pictures has unveiled the first posters for Jumanji: Open World, the final installment of the rebooted Jumanji trilogy, reuniting Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan for one last adventure — this time in our world instead of the jungle.
Sony Pictures released two posters for the film. The main one-sheet stacks the four avatars — Johnson's Dr. Xander "Smolder" Bravestone up top, followed by Gillan's Ruby Roundhouse, Black's Professor Sheldon "Shelly" Oberon and Hart's Franklin "Mouse" Finbar — surrounded by a flock of ostriches, a nod to the stampede chaos the series is known for. The second poster gives the same madness a festive twist for the film's Christmas release.
The posters lean hard on the film's premise, which flips the formula of the last two movies. Instead of players being pulled into the game, Jumanji breaks free of its console and unleashes its chaos into the real world, leaving the avatars stuck here in a glitchy "demo mode" while the players who once controlled them scramble to clean up the mess.
Sony's official synopsis reads:
This Christmas, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan are reunited in Jumanji: Open World, the hilarious final instalment of the globally beloved action-adventure trilogy. Our heroes have escaped the perilous jungles of Jumanji before, but this time Jumanji breaks free of its console, unleashing its chaos into our world.
The supporting cast brings back most of the franchise's familiar faces. Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser'Darius Blain and Morgan Turner return as the players, joined once again by Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Rhys Darby, Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris and Marin Hinkle. New additions include Brittany O'Grady, Burn Gorman, Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes, while Jake Kasdan returns to direct from a script he wrote with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.

The stakes for the finale are high. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle grossed $962 million worldwide in 2017, and Jumanji: The Next Level added more than $800 million in 2019, making the rebooted series one of Sony's biggest franchises. Jumanji: Open World was originally set to open December 11, 2026, but Sony moved it to Christmas Day in the US to steer clear of Dune Part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday — it opens December 23 in the UK.
