Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Will Add New Cuts and Revise Episode 17 For Special Screening

Jujutsu Kaisen will give a new look at its second season's 17th episode when it releases on the big screen.

Though Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 already ended before 2023 came to a close, nobody could forget how the Shibuya Incident arc stunned the viewers with its great storyline and captivating action scenes. Fortunately, fans will experience these breathtaking sequences again as the anime has announced the release of Episodes 41-44 or the second season’s Episodes 17-20 in theaters. But to treat fans even more, Episode 17, titled Thunderclap, Part 2, will feature additional cuts and revised footage.

The anime’s official website revealed its plan for a selection event screening of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episodes 17-20. These episodes highlight the final stage of the Shibuya Incident arc, where Yuji Itadori starts the fight in Shibuya. But if this is not enough to excite fans, the anime teased a revision of Episode 17 to correct the footage that would be different from what fans saw on TV.

“Episode 41 will be screened in a Blu-ray and DVD version with some additional cuts from the 2023 TV broadcast and distribution, and the footage has been corrected,” it said.

 

When and where will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episodes 17-20 (41-44) be screened?

The Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 special screening will be held for one week, from Friday, March 29 to Thursday, April 4. It will be screened at 30 movie theaters in Japan. It remains to be seen if it will also be released internationally. For the list of areas where it will be released, you can check below:

  • Square

  • Kinki District

  • Chugoku/Shikoku District

  • Kyushu District

The episodes’ screening time is approximately 89 minutes. Ticket sales will start on Monday, March 25.

What are the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Blu-ray/DVD release dates?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 started releasing Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Blu-ray/DVD in December 2023. Its first five episodes were part of the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc, which won 11 awards at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, while the last 18 episodes were from the Shibuya Incident arc. What is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 (Episode 41) about?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 saw Megumi and Shigemo’s fight. After receiving a surprise attack from Shigemo, Megumi summoned a shikigami named Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, the most powerful shikigami of the Ten Shadows Technique.

After being severely injured in his fight against Toji, Megumi suffers a surprise attack from Shigemo. On the verge of death, Megumi desperately heads toward Dogenzaka crossing and summons a certain shikigami with his Ten Shadows Technique.

 

The anime is based on the manga of the same title by Gege Akutami. It started its serialization in March 2018, has collected 25 tankobon volumes as of January 2024, and has over 90 million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga of all time. It is licensed in English by Viz Media. MAPPA then adapted it into anime, with the first season releasing in October 2020, followed by the second season in July 2023.
