Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 8 is finally here and it featured a new character who left an impression on viewers. Although the Grasshopper Guy only made a brief appearance in the Shibuya Incident arc, the Cursed Spirit turned out to Gege Akutami's biggest concern about the latest episode. The mangaka has apologized to Studio MAPPA right after the eighth episode aired today.
In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 8, Yuji Itadori came across the Grasshopper curse feasting on a human corpse as he ventured into the Shibuya Station's B2F entrance. Inquisitive about Mahito's location, the young sorcerer confronted the curse, which not only provided the sought-after information but also disclosed its duty of guarding the curtain. Determined to rid himself of the hindrance, Yuji took on the task of exorcising the curse.
Although the fight turned out great, Gege Akutami was clearly worried about the new character. The mangaka's comment on the latest episode was shared on X (formerly Twitter) and Akutami was quick to thank MAPPA for their hard work.
"I'm really sorry for how I made this guy's design so difficult to reproduce," Akutami wrote. "It must have been difficult to draw even though we re-did the character design."
If it was hard for MAPPA's animators, we couldn't really tell. The fight sequence between Itadori and KO-Guy, as Mahito calls him, was truly awesome and the character's design was certainly impressive. Additionally, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean voice actor Kanuka Mitsuaki did a great job playing the Grasshopper Guy in the episode.
There's another new actor who made their debut in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 8. Early on in the episode, viewers were introduced to Mei Mei's younger brother Ui Ui who is played by Boruto: Naruto Next Generations actor Yuki Sanpei.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 8 is now available on Crunchyroll. The ninth episode of the Shibuya Incident arc is titled Shibuya Incident Opening ("Shibuya Jihen Kaimon") and is set to premiere on September 21, 2023.
