A new trailer and poster for the Korean-Japanese romantic comedy Merry Berry Love have arrived with Ji Chang-wook and Imada Mio standing in a working strawberry field as the series prepares to reach Disney+ and Hulu this October. The first CJ ENM and Nippon TV drama partnership puts a fallen Korean space planner and a Japanese farmer on the same coastal island, using harvest work, language gaps, and a stubborn misunderstanding instead of a glossy city meet-cute.
The series is set on a scenic Japanese island where Karin Shirahama (Imada Mio) has devoted her days, savings, and physical strength to a strawberry farm she refuses to abandon, while Lee Yu-bin (Ji Chang-wook), a space planner from the city, lands there after his professional reputation and finances collapse almost overnight. Their opening meeting is stiff, poorly timed, and socially disastrous, yet an odd mix-up soon leaves them sharing space, errands, and explanations that neither can easily walk away from.
The new main trailer cuts between sunlit rows of fruit, cramped indoor conversations, and the growing friction between a perfectionist visitor and a farmer who measures value in harvests rather than status. Fragments of dialogue treat chance as something that can be chosen, compare strawberries and love as crops that sweeten only with repeated effort, and linger on language slips, drinking games, and a first encounter that looks accidental until it starts to feel inevitable.
Disney+ Singapore paired that preview with a new poster that places Karin Shirahama in denim overalls and a red plaid shirt, a wooden basket of ripe strawberries in her arms, as she leans her head against Lee Yu-bin in a pale blue striped shirt beneath a hillside of dense green trees. The key art asks, "What grows when love is planted?", framing the pair less as distant leads than as two people already standing inside the same working landscape.
Ji Chang-wook is widely known for taut crime and conspiracy series such as The Worst of Evil and The Manipulated, along with the earlier action-romance Healer, and Merry Berry Love asks him to trade that hard-edged physicality for a man whose confidence has been stripped down to manners, planning habits, and wounded pride.
Imada Mio, who became a major film presence as Hinata Tachibana in the live-action Tokyo Revengers movies and later took prominent roles in My Happy Marriage and the NHK morning drama Anpan, is cast here as a grower whose authority comes from dirt, weather, and the fruit she has spent years trying to perfect.
Merry Berry Love begins streaming on Disney+ and Hulu on October 7, matching its Wednesday-night start on Nippon TV in Japan and sending the same island romance to living rooms in both markets at once. The trailer’s talk of effort and sweetness, and the poster’s basket of ripe fruit against those green hills, now point to a specific week when Lee Yu-bin’s ruined city career and Karin Shirahama’s farm will stop being promotional images and become the opening hours of the series.
