Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Part 2 continuously introduces the new characters joining Frieren and Fern as they will soon take the mage exam to become first-class mages. After introducing Lawine and Kanne, the anime has released new character trailers for Ehre, Wirbel, and Denken, and it remains to be seen if they will be the lead characters’ friends or foes.
First off is Wirbel, a former second-class mage and the leader of the Eighth Party during the first stage of the First Class Mage Exam, showing his incredible power. As he starts the fight in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Part 2, he effortlessly dodges all of the enemy’s attacks, not minding the wounds he has sustained. Despite knowing that killing is a big deal, he admitted to doing it, adding it was just an “everyday thing in the far north.” As he questions if anyone can survive with kindness, he knows humans fight for what they desire.
Next is Ehre, the Eighth Party’s second-class mage with Wirbel and Scharf during the first-class mage exam. Like Frieren and Fern, she shows her ability to float in the air while avoiding the enemy’s attack with her wand. While fighting in the air, she wonders if kindness is why others fight demons. “You’re not stupid to fight like that,” she says. “You carry them around like they’re worthless.”
For the last Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Part 2 character trailer, Denken, an Imperial and First Class Mage, is introduced. Despite being the oldest examinee, he promises to live his life as a mage and to keep his mood good. He then declares that magic is the most fun if it’s something they’re looking for.

What is Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Part 2 about?
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Part 2 will feature the manga’s First Class Mage Exam – First Stage Arc. Frieren and her party will travel to Auberst as she and Fern are about to take the First-Class Mage Exam, which the Continental Magic Association only holds every three years. Frieren has no document to prove she's a first-class mage despite being one of the strongest mages, as the classification has changed over time. Hence, she and Fern will take the exam to become official first-class mages.
