Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has started its second cour, focusing on the First Class Mage Exam – First Stage Arc. As Frieren and Fern begin to take the First Class Mage Examination in Auberst, several new characters, including Lawine and Kanne, will join them. And to give fans a glimpse of these two new mages, the anime has released their official character trailers, which you can see below:
The first Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End character trailer introduces Lawine, a third-class mage, who joins the First Class Mage Examination while being paired with Kanne and Frieren. She’s unleashing her abilities as part of the test and is determined to pass the exam and become a first-class mage. At the end of the preview, she’s fighting against Kanne as the two try to show who’s the strongest between them.
Alternatively, Kanne’s character trailer reveals how Lawine tries to best her, riding on her back while pulling her hair. She’s seen with Frieren in the forest as she later jumps off the cliff. But compared to Lawine, Kanne seems to be developing a close friendship with Frieren as they share a bond, seemingly telling each other's stories while resting.

What is Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Cour 2 about?
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Cour 2 adapts the manga’s First Class Mage Exam – First Stage Arc, which runs from Chapters 37 to 41. Here, the Continental Magic Association holds the First-Class Mage Exam, which only happens every three years, in Auberst. The mages who pass this test will attain the first-class qualification.
Frieren and Fern take part in the examination. But to be part of the test, mages must at least have a fifth-class qualification. However, Frieren gets exempted after Lernen has identified her Holy Wand Emblem, allowing her to take the exam.
