Netflix’s latest TV series, Fool Me Once, has been released to great success. Based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, the show has caught the viewers’ interest with its twists and turns involving the lives of Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan) and the Burkett family. As the series has ended, many want to know if a Fool Me Once Season 2 will come.

Netflix starts the year with a big bang after releasing Fool Me Once on January 1. It has topped the streamer’s Global Top 10 of the most-watched TV series for January 1-7 with a whopping 238.2 million hours views and 37.1 million viewers—a far cry from Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer’s, which sits on the second spot, 9.7 million hours views and 10.2 million viewers. With these strong figures, will the show be renewed?

Will there be Fool Me Once Season 2?

So far, Netflix has not announced if there will be Fool Me Once Season 2. The show features a definitive ending, giving all the characters the proper ending they need after that major time jump. It has solved the mystery surrounding Joe’s (Richard Armitage) death and wrapped up all the subplots.

In fact, according to Tudum, a renewal isn’t “likely” as the series has already covered the entirety of Coben’s novel. The book is also a standalone, so there will be no source material for a second season.

It’s also good to note that none of the author’s shows on Netflix have received a second season. However, some characters from The Woods appear in Hold Tight, like Pawel Kopinski. That said, it may not be far that Fool Me Once’s characters may appear in other Coben novels that Netflix will adapt into a TV series in the future.

Fool Me Once Ending: Who killed Joe?

Warning: Major spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.

As Fool Me Once ends, it finally reveals the culprit behind Joe’s death, and this major twist surprised many. The show unveils that Joe’s mom, Judith Burkett (Joanna Lumley), has ordered her two house staff, Izabella (Natalia Kostrewa) and Luka (Frederick Szkoda), to create a deepfake of her son to show an image of him in the footage. As she doubts that Maya is lying about Joe’s death, she believes this will help her know the truth and make her daughter-in-law reveal what really happened.

However, at the end of the series, Sami learns Rambo (Connor Porter), a thief who was in the park when Joe died, sees Maya shoot her husband. Maya kills Joe after knowing that he murdered her sister, Claire (Natalie Anderson). She even used the same gun that he used to shoot Claire. To cover up her crime, she tells the police that two men, Rambo and PJ (Lawrence Hodgson-Mullings), shot Joe while being mugged. However, the identical bullets from Joe and Claire’s deaths and Rambo’s admission about seeing the shooting end up with Maya’s arrest.

Fool Me Once ends with an 18-year time jump. Sami (Adeel Akhtar) and Eddie (Marcus Garvey) meet at the hospital to visit Lily (Molly Keir-Barton), who’s now all grown up and just delivered a child, whom she names after her mom, Maya.
