Earlier this year, Disney made a huge investment in Epic Games and Fortnite, and while fans will have to wait long before we see many aspects of their partnership bear fruit, we'll be getting some of our first looks at what's coming for Disney x Fortnite at this weekend's D23 Expo in Anaheim. Not only will there be new Fortnite reveals happening during the event, but the presentation will exclusively be live-streamed in the popular battle royale game.
The D23 livestream will take place on Saturday, August 10 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and players can livestream the show using the island code 7908-6413-2516, or from the Homebar in Discover. The show will be available to watch in Fortnite until August 16, and it will play on loop. Those who watch the presentation for at least 10 minutes will get a free special in-game gift: the Peelverine Plushie Back Bling. The only other way to watch it is to actually attend the room in Anaheim.
As the name of the gift implies, Peelverine is the fusion of Wolverine and Fortnite's iconic mascot, Peely, and the combination looks surprisingly fitting, given both have yellow colorations in their design. Each of his claws resembles a slice of banana, and there's also some banana/stuffing pouring out of tears in the costume.
Players can also acquire some XP, but it's unclear how much. Epic Games clarified that that the Back Bling is not really a true exclusive, as it will be made available in the Item Shop "at a later date", and that will cost players some V-Bucks. So, if you want to get the cosmetic for free, you will want to watch the livestream.
The livestream presentation will be hosted by Disney Experiences chairperson Josh D'Amaro, but fans should also expect "a few special guests" during the event. We currently know who those might be, but it looks like Disney and Epic Games are planning to reveal a bunch of exciting things for Fortnite fans this weekend. It's likely that more details about the highly-anticipated next season of Fortnite will be revealed during the stream, which is expected to launch sometime this month. The new season is rumored to be Marvel-themed. After all, new X-Men skins were recently leaked, and they feature Cyclops, Colossus, and Jubilee. According to the leaks, they will be made available on August 12.
