Deadpool & Wolverine Will Not Feature Taylor Swift or So They Say

Despite a reputable publication confirming Taylor Swift's non-appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans still need convincing.

The rumors about Taylor Swift’s cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine remain strong. It’s even heightened by Ladypool’s appearance in the movie’s latest TV spot, with some saying those legs belong to the pop giant while others claim they’re Blake Lively’s. Though it remains to be seen if Swift will indeed be part of the threequel, a new report confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie will not feature the musical superstar as Dazzler or Ladypool, or so they say.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news that Swift would not be in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, no additional information was revealed, and no one from the film confirmed whether this was true. As they say, it’s better to hear it from the horse’s mouth, so eager fans may still not believe the report and anticipate TayTay’s much-awaited cameo.

The news comes after the release of the movie’s IMAX poster, which shows the titular characters holding hands and wearing friendship bracelets that became famous through Swift’s mega-successful Eras Tour. If this isn’t a clue about Swift’s cameo in the movie, we don’t know what will. This isn’t even the first time the film featured friendship bracelets in its poster. In February, the movie dropped a friendship bracelet poster that featured each bracelet with Deadpool and Wolverine's names and the film’s release date.

Is Taylor Swift following Andrew Garfield’s move in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Despite EW’s confirmation, many are unconvinced that Swift will not appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. One good example of this is Andrew Garfield’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Despite the strong rumors, the actor denied participating in the movie for so long. As expected, he was later revealed to be part of the film and even played a major role, with his Peter Parker variant making his way to the MCU.

It's also important to note that Marvel stars have NDAs to sign to stay mum about their projects. And no one can reveal the truth since Marvel Studios aims to surprise fans with unexpected cameos. So, unless the movie comes out and viewers don’t get a glimpse of Swift, it may be the only time they will believe this report.

Clues that Taylor Swift May Appear in Deadpool & Wolverine

Rumors about Swift’s cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine started when the movie’s lead star, Ryan Reynolds, released a teaser for the threequel. Fans quickly noticed that it was seemingly filmed in the same house where Swift’s All Too Well short film was set.

The cameo rumors even got stronger when Swift was joined by Reynolds, Lively, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce's game at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in October 2023. Sophie Turner was also part of the star-studded suite at the time. The actress is known for playing Jean Grey in the 2016 X-Men: Apocalypse and the 2019 X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Levy also remained tight-lipped about Swift’s possible appearance in the third Deadpool movie, telling Entertainment Tonight that her casting was “hardly confirmed nor denied.” In addition, the lyrics of her song Clara Bow, which is part of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, have the word “dazzling” throughout the track’s choruses and outro, which seems to be a nod to the X-Men character Dazzler.

One of Swift’s music video editors, Shane Reid, also helped edit Deadpool & Wolverine through Lively’s recommendation. Lastly, two months before the film hit the big screen, Marvel announced a new series of Dazzler comics would be released in September 2024. As this came amid Swift’s rumored cameo as Dazzler, many can’t help but notice the uncanny timing.
