Deadpool & Wolverine has opened the door for the Fox-Marvel characters to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. The threequel features the heroes from the old studio, from several X-Men characters to Blade (Wesley Snipes), Elektra (Jennifer Garner), and Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Chris Evans). But while doing so, it also gives a nod to the Avengers, including the god of thunder, Thor (Chris Hemsworth). In one scene, Thor was seen crying over Deadpool. As many wonder about the reason behind it, Ryan Reynolds teases he knows why.

One of the biggest cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine was a repurposed footage from Alan Taylor’s 2013 Thor: The Dark Lord. But instead of Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor had a dying Deadpool in his arms while they seemed to be in the middle of a great battle. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) explained that Deadpool shouldn’t see it as it happened in the distant future, hinting at the latter’s return in a future Marvel project. As this raised a big question in the minds of many, Reynolds revealed he knew the answer.

“I know why Thor was crying. I can’t unknow it,” the Canadian actor shared on X with a higher-resolution photo of Deadpool’s scene with Thor.

Reynolds was very careful not to give anything away, making fans more puzzled than answering their question. However, that intriguing scene seems to be a tease for his return in the next Avengers movies, specifically Avengers: Secret Wars. As X user @CarloLGarcia suggests, it might “be a Secret, maybe some Wars.”

In fact, Deadpool’s scene with Thor is believed to have set up the stage for Secret Wars and the Merc with a Mouth’s possible participation in it. To recall, back in June, Reynolds himself appeared to tease his part in the upcoming Avengers movie when he shared a clip of a blue flag with the group’s logo waving in the wind. However, the said logo was defaced with a sprayed anarchist symbol, which seemed to be Deadpool's style. Knowing Reynolds has a lot of things to say, his post surprisingly has no caption.

Chris Hemsworth Addresses His Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine

While at the Time Variance Authority (TVA) office, Paradox made Deadpool watch the Avengers in action as he asked him to fulfill a mission to save the Sacred Timeline. Surprisingly, it included Thor’s scene with Deadpool, which was earlier featured during Deadpool & Wolverine’s screening at CinemaCon in April. In a recent interview with ComicBook in May for his movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Hemsworth addressed his cameo and expressed his excitement about being a part of Marvel Studios’ only movie for 2024.

“It’s really cool,” he said. “You kind of forget and be like, ‘Oh, cool! I’m part of the team. They’re talking about me!’ when I’m not in it.”

With the hype the threequel had built, the Marvel veteran actor found the world of Deadpool & Wolverine “really cool to be part of.” However, what made it much cooler for him was its interconnected nature.
