After Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, it finally acquired the film rights to several Marvel Comics characters, including Deadpool and the X-Men, for Marvel Studios. Hence, Wade Wilson and Logan will make their epic leap into the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, and it looks like it will just be the start of their adventure in the multiverse, especially for Deadpool. With the upcoming rebuild of the Avengers, it looks like Deadpool will join the fold after Ryan Reynolds teases his appearance in Avengers 5, aka Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, in a cryptic post.
In an Instagram post, Reynolds shared a clip of a blue flag waving in the wind, featuring the Avengers’ logo. However, the logo is defaced with a sprayed anarchist symbol, which seems to be Deadpool’s style and hints at his appearance in the sequel Avengers 5. To add more intrigue to the post, the actor didn’t add a caption, which makes it more mysterious.
As expected, many filled the post’s comment section with assumptions that Deadpool will join the Avengers. Instagram user @vhs_addict also suggests that the Merc with a Mouth will be included in Avengers: Secret Wars as the threequel is set to introduce the 2027 movie. Though it remains to be seen if this happens, it’s good to note that Deadpool & Wolverine’s CinemaCon footage sets the stage for Secret Wars after Wade tells Logan it will finally be introduced.
Will Deadpool be part of Avengers 5?
Though it remains to be seen if Deadpool will be part of Avengers 5, Reynolds’ post could be a good hint that he would have a participation in the movie. The Canadian-American star is known for being an expert marketer and businessman who knows everything he shares online will get attention and gain reactions. Hence, there’s a reason he shares that cryptic post, and it may allude to the connection between his iconic character and the Avengers.
There are also theories that the anarchist symbol refers to the team of Variants who will battle Cassandra Nova and her villainous allies in The Void in Deadpool & Wolverine. According to The Geeky Cast, this Resistance team will be comprised of Deadpool, Wolverine, Blade, X-23, Gambit, the Human Torch, and Elektra. With the rumors that these characters will cameo in the threequel, fans may see another team-up rather than just Deadpool and Wolverine.
This could also hint that a new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer featuring the Avengers logo will be released. Fans are advised to take these assumptions with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed yet. However, as Marvel Studios is working fast to promote its next Avengers movies, more details about these films may be released soon.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024, while Avengers 5 is slated to premiere on May 1, 2026.
