Wade Wilson and Logan will make an epic leap into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Deadpool & Wolverine. The film will see the titular characters working for the Time Variance Authority, first introduced in the TV series Loki. And to excite fans even more about the connection between the movie and the show, a new still features a TemPad.

Entertainment Weekly gave a new look at Deadpool & Wolverine, and it showed the Merc with a Mouth getting his hands on the Temporal Access Device, which the TVA used to perform their missions. As this device also allows its users to travel at any point in time on the timeline, this may mean that these two will use TemPad to travel across the multiverse.

However, fans who haven’t watched Loki don’t have to worry that they may not understand the film and TemPad’s connection to it. Director Shawn Levy earlier ensured that viewers didn’t have to start their research to get the story of the threequel. Despite its references to the larger MCU and the X-Men, the filmmaker makes sure it will be entertaining even for new audiences.

“I was a good student in school. I'll do my homework as an adult. But I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies,” he told The Associated Press. “I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn't want to presume that. This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”

What version of Logan will be seen in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Fans will see a different version of Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine. Hugh Jackman himself earlier teased that another side of him would take the lead in the movie. However, there are theories that this iteration may have already been seen in the post-credits scene of the 2018 Deadpool 2.

For starters, the sequel ended with Wade using Cable’s time travel technology to go back to his past and change major events in his life. Here, he seemed to establish new branching timelines. He saved Vanessa, warned X-Force member Peter, killed Reynolds after reading the screenplay for the 2011 Green Lantern, and returned in the 1980s to kill his former self, Weapon XI, in the 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

As this changed the events in the movie, with Weapon XI dying even before his final fight against Wolverine and Victor Creed, it would also alter Wolverine’s timeline. If this is followed, Stryker didn’t get to wipe Wolverine’s memories with an adamantium bullet, which is probably why Wolverine remembers Deadpool at a bar in the threequel’s trailer.

Wolverine is the only one who has seen Deadpool's new incarnation, and these two only met in Deadpool 2. Hence, this gives credence to the theory that this could be the version of the adamantium-clawed hero that will be seen in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. By the looks of it, the film has a lot of questions to answer as it makes its way to the MCU. Aside from Wade being involved in the TVA, there’s a big mystery surrounding the version of Wolverine here after he died in the 2017 Logan.
