Director Shawn Levy has worked on various projects that made it big on the headlines like Deadpool, Stranger Things, and The Adam Project. Now, he is expanding his resume with the galaxy far, far away as he details his jump to Star Wars. However, with the ongoing writer's strike, Levy's Star Wars project may be put on hold until after Deadpool 3 rolls out.
The galaxy far, far away has been even-expanding for the last four decades and it continues to get interesting as another huge name joins the franchise behind the scenes. Director Shawn Levy reveals that he is joining Star Wars soon with an offer from none other than Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy and as reported by Variety, Levy details how the big boss brought him into their fold:
When Kathy Kennedy brought me on board to make a Star Wars movie, her central mandate to me was, 'I want a Shawn Levy movie. I want a story and a tone that reflects you and your taste and what you bring to your movies -- with a Star Wars story. So I have felt extremely empowered. We are in early days, unfortunately, because the development process was abruptly paused, but I feel very empowered to trust my instincts in the development of this story and movie.
Now that Deadpool 3 is under Marvel Studios which falls into the ambit of Disney alongside Lucasfilm, the communication would be easier for the director and the latter studio should the Star Wars film of Levy push through. In the same report, Levy also discusses how Deadpool 3 impacts his Lucasfilm movie in the future. Levy says:
My Deadpool movie is turning out to be exactly what Ryan [Reynolds] and I had hoped when we started off. So I'm going into the development of my Star Wars movie with a similar optimism, and faith that my instincts will be allowed to lead the way.
Deadpool 3 is directed by Shawn Levy and it has been indefinitely delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. With Shawn Levy still attached to another project, his jump to Star Wars could take a few more years but what's great is that the director still looks forward to putting his own flavor into whatever Lucasfilm movie he would helm. Deadpool 3 is expected to be an action comedy movie and as Levy stated, he could bring in his own touch should he be allowed by the studio.

The same report may have hinted which Star Wars movie could Shawn Levy take on in the future. Shawn Levy is known to be a good friend of Adam Driver who previously played Kylo Ren in Star Wars. Having Levy around Lucasfilm could result to a Kylo Ren prequel and Levy jokes, "Your words, not mine! As you know Adam is a buddy, and I've always been a huge fan of Kylo Ren. But no comment."
Adam Driver first appeared in Star Wars as the main antagonist in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the last that everyone had seen him in the franchise is in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Having a prequel could set how Kylo Ren jumped into the dark side and could explore his villainous origins. With Shawn Levy being in the mix and considering his friendship with Adam Driver, if the Star Wars movie that the former would be involved in would be a Kylo Ren prequel, then, it is expected to be quite a ride.
