Netflix had formally announced that the upcoming Cobra Kai Season 6 would be the series’ final season. Of course, this is quickly billed as the “biggest, most rebellious, and most amazing” season by one of the original stars, William Zabka. However, it looks like it will never be the end of the series yet. The showrunners revealed they would never give the final installment an “actual closure” to continue the Miyagi-verse.
In an interview with Collider, the series creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald revealed their plans for the franchise’s future and what fans would see in the sixth and final season. Though it was said to be the last of the series, it would never wrap things up, following the concept of the original movie franchise, The Karate Kid, on which the show is based, story wasn’t finished.
“We will never give actual closure when it comes to anything,” Heald said. “We love working in the Cobra Kai universe, so there's always potential to revisit that world.”
He continued that they’re devising ideas that may work on the Miyagi-verse to continue its story. The showrunner even teased that it would only be a matter of time before they finally come up with a new direction. Like fans, Heald revealed they’re also excited for Cobra Kai Season 6, promising they’ll go out “with a bang.”
“It's gonna be an amazing experience for fans of the franchise,” he teased.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Teased to be the Biggest
Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg even said the same thing about Cobra Kai Season 6 in an open letter to fans to announce the final season in January, calling it “the biggest season of Cobra Kai yet.” The three wanted the series conclusion to celebrate everything that has come and what’s left to be told.
They also looked at the incredible journey of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) from the time he first arrived in the Valley in the first The Karate Kid movie in 1984 to the beginning of Cobra Kai, where he started helping a new generation of underdog fighters. The three aimed the final installment to be the proper conclusion to LaRusso and Lawrence’s Cobra Kai journey.
Cobra Kai Season 6 will reportedly start its production in early 2024 and will be released later in the same year. So, if The Karate Kid story will never be finished, Cobra Kai will never die, and there will be more stories to be told from this franchise.
