Lupita Nyong'o is honoring the late Chadwick Boseman in the best possible way. The Black Panther actor shared a rare photo of her co-star along with a heartfelt message about his lasting effect on people's lives.

Nyong'o posted the image on her official Instagram account. In the picture, the Avengers: Infinity War star is making a finger heart with a huge smile on his face. However, it is his co-star's caption that captivated fans' hearts.

"Three years ago today, I experienced a singular pain at the news of Chadwick Boseman's death. The confusion was so profound that it took months to trust the feeling of joy again," she wrote.

"Death is hard to understand, maybe even harder to accept. But the love generated from the life he lived will fuel every anniversary marking his absence," Nyong'o added. "Chadwick may no longer be in our photos, but he will always be in our hearts."

It's a beautiful tribute to a man who touched lives as an actor and a public figure. We also appreciate the wonderful picture of Boseman when he was healthy and happy, just the way everybody wants to remember him.

Chadwick Boseman's legacy extended far beyond his iconic role in Black Panther. He gained recognition for his remarkable portrayals of historical icons, such as Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get On Up, and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall. Despite silently battling colon cancer since 2016, Boseman continued to grace the screen until his untimely passing in 2020, just at the age of 43.

His last cinematic appearances were in Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, with the latter earning him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Boseman's talent also extended to voice acting, as he lent his voice to an alternate version of T'Challa in the animated anthology What If...?, a role that posthumously earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance. Although he did not appear in the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, his character's presence is felt throughout the film.
