Bridgerton Season 3 will finally delve into the much-awaited love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). However, it looks like someone will get in their way. In the new clip and preview stills the show has released, a new suitor is trying to pursue Penelope, and no, it’s not Colin. It’s Lord Debling!

The show’s official X page shared a 12-second Bridgerton Season 3 that shows Debling and Penelope meeting each other. As Penelope can’t remove her eyes from the handsome blonde guy, she bobs a curtsy to him while he bows to her. The two then face the camera together, with Penelope smiling shyly.
“Will this wallflower's moment in the sunshine be enough to let her bloom?” its caption reads. “One can certainly hope.”
Alternatively, the new stills also focus on Penelope and Debling. In the first one, Penelope and Debling seem to form a close relationship as they go on what looks like a picnic. The pair is sitting on a blanket lying on the ground, but it appears they see something unwelcoming. With fear on her face, Debling seemingly catches Penelope while she’s leaning on him, with his hands on her shoulder and waist. In another, they attend a Bridgerton event, and Debling seems to gift Penelope a bracelet he’s helping her wear.

Who is Lord Debling in Bridgerton Season 3?
Netflix only describes Lord Debling as Penelope’s new suitor in Bridgerton Season 3. The character’s actor, Sam Philipps, told Shondaland that his role is “seen as an outsider.” Living on the fringes of society, he’s also looking for a love match, as Penelope does. What he wants in a woman is exactly like the Featherington’s youngest child.
“He’s after someone who goes against the grain, someone who is a little bit of an outsider like him,” he explained. “And he spots Penelope.”
Debling sees Penelope as special, as she's also seen as an outsider, just like he is. However, besides his type, Phillips also revealed his character’s interest in other things outside society's norms. He also loves wildlife, is a conservationist, and is a vegetarian.
What is Bridgerton Season 3 about?
Bridgerton Season 3 will follow the love story of Penelope and Colin. After hearing him tell his friends that he will never court her, Penelope is about to give up her feelings for Colin. She then decides to join the marriage market and find a husband who will let her live a double life as Lady Whistledown. However, her lack of confidence will affect her search, but Colin will come to the rescue. After discovering that Penelope hates him, he promises to make it up to her by helping her regain her confidence and find a good man. But between their lessons, Colin finds himself falling in love with Penelope.
