The highly-anticipated conclusion to the BEASTARS anime series is drawing nearer, as the second part of its final season has been confirmed for a March 2026 premiere. This latest development brings fans closer to the climactic end of the story that has captivated audiences with its unique blend of drama, romance, and social commentary in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Accompanying the premiere announcement is a brand-new main trailer, which offers a glimpse into the escalating tensions and emotional stakes that have built up throughout the series.

The trailer showcases intense footage from the upcoming episodes, highlighting the ongoing conflicts between herbivores and carnivores at Cherryton Academy and beyond. It also features a preview of the newly revealed ending theme song, Tiny Light, performed by the popular South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN. This musical choice adds a fresh layer of emotional depth to the series' soundtrack, known for its eclectic and fitting selections that enhance the narrative's themes of identity, prejudice, and forbidden love.

Returning to helm the production is director Shinichi Matsumi, who has been with the series since its earlier seasons, ensuring continuity in its distinctive visual style. The animation is once again handled by Studio Orange, renowned for their expertise in CG animation that brings the animal characters to life with expressive movements and detailed environments. Scripts for this final installment are penned by Nanami Higuchi, who has contributed to previous parts of the adaptation, maintaining the story's fidelity to the source material while adapting it for the screen.

BEASTARS has been a standout in the anime landscape since its debut, adapting Paru Itagaki's manga of the same name. The series first premiered in 2019, with subsequent seasons exploring deeper into the manga's intricate plotlines. The final season, split into two parts, began airing earlier, setting the stage for this concluding chapter. Studio Orange's use of 3D animation has been praised for its ability to convey the primal instincts and subtle emotions of the characters, making the anthropomorphic world feel both familiar and unsettlingly real.

As the story approaches its end, viewers can expect resolutions to key arcs involving protagonists like the gentle wolf Legoshi and the resilient rabbit Haru, alongside the broader societal issues that divide their world. The manga's exploration of predator-prey dynamics as a metaphor for real-world divisions has resonated globally, contributing to the series' international acclaim.

What is BEASTARS about?

The BEASTARS manga, created by Paru Itagaki, debuted in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine on September 8, 2016, and concluded its serialization in 2020 after 22 volumes. As the daughter of renowned manga artist Keisuke Itagaki (known for Baki the Grappler), Paru Itagaki brought a fresh perspective to the shōnen genre with her debut series. BEASTARS quickly garnered critical success, winning the prestigious Manga Taishō award in 2018—the first for publisher Akita Shoten—along with the New Creator Prize at the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and other accolades. Its unique premise, blending mystery, romance, and allegory, has made it a modern classic in manga.

VIZ Media, which handles the English publication of the BEASTARS manga, provides this official description:

One night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student is brutally murdered. Among the members of the Drama Club, the herbivores’ suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates… The prime suspect? Gray wolf Legoshi. But he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Or would he? Will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her…something else?

The anime adaptation has faithfully brought these elements to life, expanding on the manga's visual storytelling through dynamic animation and a compelling voice cast. With the final season's second part, the narrative promises to tie up loose ends while delivering the emotional payoff that fans have awaited.
