Netflix has been gearing up for the release of its latest Korean action movie, Badland Hunters, featuring Ma Dong-seok, aka Don Lee, in the lead. After releasing its official trailer, showing how the Eternals actor fights to survive, the streamer has dropped new preview stills to reveal the other characters joining the badass action star.

The Badland Hunters preview begins with Don Lee, along with Lee Jun-young and An Ji-hye, as he creates a hole in the wall with his shotgun. The next still shows him pinning a man on his chopping table while placing a knife near his neck.

The next one reveals Lee Hee-joon as Yang Gi-su, the mad doctor who has survived the catastrophe. It’s followed by a glimpse of Jun-young as Choi Ji-wan, Nam San’s (Don Lee) trusted ally, holding his weapon as the fight against the bad guys begins. Roh Jeong-eui is also seen as Su Na, a woman following Nam San around. And for the last still, a good look at Ji-hye as the special forces’ sergeant Lee Eun-ho is revealed.

What is Badland Hunters about?

A directorial debut of Hyeon Myung-haeng, known for being the martial arts director of The Outlaw series, Hunt, and Train to Busan, Badland Hunters will follow the story of a post-apocalyptic Seoul after a major earthquake transforms the country into a wasteland. A sequel to Park Seo-joon’s Concrete Utopia, the survivors will have to face not only the natural threats of nature but also themselves as the world has become lawless and governed by the powerful.

You can check the synopsis below:

Set in the same post-apocalyptic world as Concrete Utopia , Badland Hunters depicts the struggle for survival among those living in the devastated Seoul, where mere survival becomes a luxury, allegiances are volatile, and human will is tested against nature’s harshest conditions.

The film was originally planned after the production of Concrete Utopia was completed in November 2021. After a few months, the cameras started rolling in February 2022 and ended in May of the same year. Netflix then confirmed its production in November 2023, produced by Climax Studios, Big Punch Pictures, and Nova. And for some trivia, Ji-hye performed 99% of her action scenes in the movie.
