The final episode of Attack on Titan will soon be out, and the anime has released a few promotional stints to hype up its big return after the long wait. One of the promotions it has dropped is a key visual that shows the simple cabin Mikasa has imagined living in with Eren. But despite the simplicity of the preview, eagle-eyed fans spotted a major easter egg hiding in the poster.
Based on the manga series of the same name by Hajime Isayama, Attack on Titan has become one of the best-selling manga series of all time. With its incredible critical and commercial success, it was no surprise that it was adapted into anime by Wit Studio for its first three seasons and Studio MAPPA for its fourth season. Though the latter was dubbed as its final season, it was divided into several parts, and Attack on Titan: The Final Season Finale is about to come.
The anime’s official website unveiled the key visual for the series’ final episode with a text, “See you later, Eren.” It features a simple cottage set in a quiet field while the blue skies reign overhead. However, something sinister lies within, as the shadows of the coming Rumbling Titans can be seen. But aside from that, fans notice another silhouette when they zoom in on the poster.
In the cottage’s window, two people are seemingly sharing a kiss. Though anime-only fans may have a hard time figuring out who they are, manga readers surely know them.

The key visual references a manga panel, where Mikasa envisions herself living in a cabin with Eren. As Mikasa is having a hard time deciding if she will kill Eren to stop the Rumbling, she starts to imagine an alternate universe where she and Eren have made different choices.
Here, the two escape instead of fighting with the Marleyans or protecting Paradis Island. But as Eren only has a few years left to live–as Titan shifters’ life span is only 13 years–he chooses to spend his remaining time with Mikasa. Hence, they’re probably the couple kissing in the Attack on Titan: The Final Season Finale poster.
It’s also good to note that Mikasa and Eren shared a kiss in the final chapters of Attack on Titan. After Mikasa finally had the guts to decapitate Eren, she gave him the softest kiss. That said, there are theories that the intimate moment between the two is what is shown in the cabin window.
Attack on Titan: The Final Season Finale will be released on November 4. With the legion of fans waiting for this final episode, many expect it to feature an epic ending.
