Attack on Titan Musical Launches World Tour With Singapore Opener

After conquering New York's stage, the live spectacle of Attack on Titan is taking its Titans on a full world tour.

The Titans are about to march beyond Japan's stages. Attack on Titan: The Musical, the stage adaptation of Hajime Isayama's dark fantasy, is going on a world tour, opening with a run at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from April 15 to May 2, 2027.

The musical's official World Tour website announced the tour on Tuesday, confirming Singapore as the first stop and promising that additional dates will be revealed later.

Gō Ueki directs the production, with Masafumi Hata writing the book, hip hop artist KEN THE 390 serving as music director, and Kaori Miura writing the lyrics. The musical fuses traditional staging and live performance with modern stage technology and effects, recreating the overwhelming presence of the Titans on stage alongside music, dance, and action sequences.

The production first ran in January 2023 at the Orix Theater in Osaka and the Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo, drawing strong reactions for its blend of analog theatrical craft and high-tech stagecraft. It crossed the Pacific in October 2024 for its first international performance at New York City Center, then returned home for a triumphant Japan run from December 2024 to January 2025. The world tour marks the next step in that expansion, with Singapore opening the itinerary.

An earlier attempt to bring the franchise to the stage ended in tragedy — a separate stage play planned for 2017 was cancelled after acrobat Kazutaka Yoshino died in an on-stage accident during preparations.

Isayama launched the original Attack on Titan manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009 and ended the series in April 2021. All 34 compiled volumes have surpassed 140 million copies in circulation worldwide, with the manga published in 18 languages across more than 180 countries. Kodansha USA Publishing released the manga in English, with the final volume arriving in October 2021.

The story is set in a world where humanity shelters behind enormous walls from the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures that devour people on sight. When the outermost wall falls after a century of fragile peace, young Eren Yeager watches a Titan kill his mother and swears to wipe the Titans out, enlisting in the military alongside his friends Mikasa and Armin as the secrets behind the walls begin to unravel.

The television anime premiered in April 2013 and concluded with Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS in 2023, followed by the compilation film Attack on Titan The Movie: THE LAST ATTACK in November 2024. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.
