Sony Pictures' Kraven the Hunter is finally seeing some good news regarding its release date after experiencing a series of delays and disruptions due to the recent SAG-AFTRA strikes. The highly anticipated film just got an update, and it looks like Sony is determined the release the Aaron Taylor-Johnson movie as soon as possible!

According to a report from TheWrap, the Kraven the Hunter film will be among the first films to receive attention once the SAG-AFTRA strike concludes. The strike has temporarily paused several sectors of the film industry. Kraven has already completed a substantial portion of its production and now requires only minor reshoots and ADR work before it can be finalized for its theatrical release. Still, Sony remains committed to the movie and intends to proceed with its completion once the strikes are resolved.

Negotiations regarding streaming residuals have been a point of contention in recent discussions between striking actors and the studios. The film's future will largely depend on the outcome of these negotiations, similar to the past several months when its release was postponed multiple times. Sony's motivation to release Kraven the Hunter as quickly as possible stems from the need to recover their investment in the project, considering that its success may not be as assured as initially anticipated.

Will Kraven the Hunter Get An Earlier Release Date?

Originally scheduled for a January 2023 release, the film was subsequently postponed to October and then further to 2024 due to ongoing disruptions caused by the actors' strike. Negotiations with the studios are ongoing to address the strike's issues, and when successfully resolved, many stalled film projects can resume production.

Following the delays and an initially perplexing trailer, fan interest in the film is far from overwhelming. However, it is believed that Kraven just needs a bit of marketing to fix that right away. Additionally, given the relatively small amount of work required to complete the movie and the fact that it was originally intended to release this month before the strike-related postponements, the 10 months Sony has provided themselves should allow sufficient time for the film's completion, even if negotiations continue longer than anticipated.
