X-Men '97 Voice Actor Teases Return After Playing Several Roles in the Marvel Universe

After voicing Professor X, Doctor Doom, and Apocalypse in X-Men '97 Season 1, Ross Marquand is highly expected to return to X-Men '97 Season 2.

Ross Marquand joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018, starting as the voice of Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War. He has since played several roles in the Marvel universe, with X-Men ‘97 being the last, voicing Professor X, Doctor Doom, and Apocalypse. Though it remains to be seen if he will reprise his roles in X-Men '97 Season 2, the voice actor teases his return to the Marvel world.

In a post on Threads, Marquand took a trip down memory lane and examined his most memorable roles in the Marvel universe. He shared photos of his roles as Red Skull in Infinity War, Infinity Ultron in What If…? Season 1, Ultron Series in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Professor X in X-Men ‘97 Season 1. Though what role he will play next remains unknown, he reveals his excitement to share what’s to come.

“Forever grateful to be a part of the #MCU / #Marvel universe and I’m so excited to share what’s to come,” his caption reads.

As expected, many fans filled the comment section of Marquand’s post with a lot of praise and gratitude for his great contribution to the Marvel universe. One follower calls his impressions “incredible,” adding Marvel
Studios is lucky to have his immeasurable talent. Another claims he’s “putting in the Marvel work” with everything he has done. And though he didn’t reveal what’s next for his Marvel career, many are now looking forward to hearing his voice behind an iconic character.

What role may Ross Marquand play next in the Marvel Universe?

Marquand took over the role of Red Skull from Hugo Weaving, who originally played the character in the 2011 Captain America: The First Avenger. He also took over the roles of Ultron from James Spader and Professor X from the original X-Men: The Animated Series voice actor Cedric Smith. As he also voiced En Saba Nur’s Apocalypse in the X-Men ‘97 Season 1 finale, there’s a big possibility that he may return to reprise the role in X-Men ‘97 Season 2.

Apocalypse is believed to be the second season’s main villain after his appearance in the first season finale. Of course, Professor X will still be an integral part of the sequel, so he may still be the voice of the X-Men leader in the second and third seasons, both in development.

He may also be heard as Doctor Doom again in What If…? Season 3 after playing the role in X-Men '97 Season 1 Episode 8, Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1. If that happens, there may be a big chance he will portray the iconic Marvel villain in live-action or a variant of him, setting up the stage for his much larger role in the MCU.

Fans are advised to take these assumptions with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed yet. But with Marquand’s great voice and acting abilities, it looks like this isn’t far from happening.
