The official website for the television anime of Witch and Mercenary has confirmed an April 2027 premiere in Japan and released the series’ first main trailer along with a pair of second teaser visuals. The project will air on NTV and 29 affiliated stations as well as BS NTV. The new materials also introduce three additional voice actors who join Taito Ban as Zig Crane and Saori Hayami as Siasha.
The main trailer follows Zig and Siasha after they leave the old continent and begin life on a distant land where magic and monsters still exist. It shows Siasha encountering unfamiliar customs and deciding to walk the path of an adventurer, then cuts to meetings with other ranked fighters who share the same guild halls and battlefields. Combat sequences sit beside quieter travel scenes, giving a sense of both the physical danger ahead and the uneasy partnership that formed after their first fight ended in a stalemate rather than a kill.
The two new teaser visuals pay direct homage to the first light novel volume cover, splitting the image into a Siasha version and a Zig version. The designs keep the original illustrator’s costume details and color language while translating them into the sharper line work of the anime’s character sheets.
Yuri Noguchi, who voices second-rank adventurer and swordsman Isana Gayhone, known as the White Lightning Princess, said:
I think this is a work where, along with the powerful battle scenes, subtle nuances of emotion are scattered throughout the quiet interactions. I am approaching the voice recording with all my might so as not to miss a single one of those details! Isana, whom I voice, is hot-blooded, but she is a strong and brave woman with firm convictions. I would be happy if you could pay attention to her as well alongside the adventures of Zig and Siasha.
Hiromu Mineta, who voices fourth-rank adventurer and party leader Alan Clows, said:
I am Hiromu Mineta, and I will be playing the role of Alan Clows. When I heard that I got the part, I was truly thrilled and my heart raced. I feel extremely happy to be able to play Alan Clows as a member of such a wonderful work. Witch and Mercenary is a work with breathtakingly tense battles and human drama where each character’s beliefs clash. In the recording, I sincerely portrayed Alan while valuing the atmosphere of the work. I hope everyone who loves this work will fully enjoy the unique charm it has to offer. Haruka Shiraishi, who voices third-rank staff-wielding adventurer Elsia Armet, a mysterious fighter who always wears an eyepatch, said:

Shinpei Ezaki directs the series at Eight Bit, with series composition by Daishiro Tanimura, character designs by Keita Matsumoto, sound direction by Akiko Fujita, and music by Rei Ishizuka at Lantis. Additional production roles announced with the trailer include assistant series script supervision by Shingo Irie, sub-character design by Hideki Sakai, and monster design by Wataru Inada and Ryō Hirada.
What is Witch and Mercenary about?
Witch and Mercenary began as aweb novel written by Kaeru Chōhōkiteki on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in June 2021 before Micro Magazine acquired it for print under the GCN Bunko imprint in May 2023, with illustrations by Bench Kanase. The action and high-fantasy light novels have surpassed 1.7 million copies in circulation across seven published volumes, with an eighth volume scheduled for late September 2026. A manga adaptation illustrated by Makoto Miyagi runs in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the novels in English and describes the story as follows:
Nothing in this world is more dangerous than a witch. The epitome of fear and terror, they can summon floods on a whim, conjure balls of fire out of the air, or even destroy entire countries overnight. Incur their wrath, and no one is safe. The first main trailer and matching visuals now give a clearer look at the continent waiting on the other side of that crossing, and at the ranked adventurers who already live there. Whether the new land offers the quiet Siasha wants or simply a different set of rules to survive remains the question the April 2027 broadcast is built to answer.
