With the spectacular ending of Ahsoka Season 1, many Star Wars fans are now wondering which one is going to be released first: The Mandalorian Season 4 or Ahsoka Season 2. This year, Lucasfilm definitely took the expanding MandoVerse up a couple of notches with the fourth season of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and the news of a Mandoverse movie.

The MandoVerse is the era as well as the Disney+ narrative that made a debut through The Mandalorian. However, now that Star Wars: Ahsoka has already begun and ended, the real question is which Star Wars story is going to be released next and what the project timeline of the MandoVerse really looks like. Hopefully, something much more exciting comes next!

Which will be released first: The Mandalorian Season 4 or Ahsoka Season 2?

With the Ahsoka Episode 8 open-ended ending and Lucasfilm’s potential hint at the second season of Ahsoka, many are busy wondering what comes next in the MandoVerse timeline. Currently, the next Disney+ Star Wars series ready to launch in this specific timeline is Skeleton Crew. The series finished filming in the year’s start and was scheduled to release in late 2023.

Unfortunately, due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, along with a lack of promotion, Disney+ and Lucasfilm might push the show to early 2025. So far, we know that Vane, a pirate from The Mandalorian Season 3, is confirmed to show up in the upcoming series, but we aren’t sure how the narrative is going to link to Boba Fett, Mando, and Ahsoka Tano.

After Skeleton Crew, the next MandoVerse project to be released on Disney+ will probably be The Mandalorian Season 4. Before the launch of The Mandalorian Season 3 and the strikes, Jon Favreau confirmed during an interview with the French entertainment news program BFMTV INSIDE that "[he's] written [Season 4] already," and reports claimed that the filming might start sometime in September or October 2023.

However, that timeline has now understandably been changed, but despite that, the odds seem to be in favor of The Mandalorian starting its filming before Ahsoka Season 2, which Lucasfilm hasn’t even announced yet. The events of Ahsoka Episode 8 demand further storytelling since it ended on a cliffhanger, and many other angles need to be covered.

Although Dave Filoni can skip over Ahsoka Season 2 and resolve the Star Wars series’ problems and loose plot threads in his MandoVerse movie, Rosario Dawson has already hinted at the possibility of a second season way before the show even premiered. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she claimed that if the fans love the show, "we get to do more." You can read her entire response below:

"I really, really hope the fans love it. That means A) we get to do more and B) we’ve honored the legacy of this character and this journey, and I know that’s what we intended to do."

Even though Ahsoka’s obstacles can be easily revisited in a second season or on the big screen, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be resolved before Mando and Grogu’s return. Let’s just hope Lucasfilm at least announces Ahsoka Season 2 sometime soon!
