Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun: IruMafia Edition has revealed its main visual, giving the mafia spinoff its first full look ahead of its broadcast debut. The visual arrives with the news that the anime will begin airing on January 4, moving the spinoff from announcement to a dated premiere.
The anime's official announcement paired the January 4 start with the main visual, which reimagines Iruma and the Babyls regulars as members of the Babel Mafia. The spinoff trades the demon school setting for a ruthless city slum, where Iruma's kindness puts him in the path of Don Sullivan himself.
The main cast carries over the voices of the main series, led by Ayumu Murase as Iruma and Mitsuki Saiga as Opera. The cast also includes:
Daisuke Ono as Kalego Naberius
Ryohei Kimura as Alice Asmodeus
Ayaka Asai as Clara Valac
Saori Hayami as Ameri
Director Keiichiro Kawaguchi is helming the anime at Tatsunoko Pro, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handling series composition. Kawaguchi has directed Spy Classroom and Classroom for Heroes, while Fudeyasu returns from the main Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun series.
What is Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun: IruMafia Edition about?
The anime adapts the spinoff manga drawn by Hiroja from Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, a fantasy comedy that has run in Weekly Shonen Champion since 2017 and inspired four TV anime seasons, with a movie also announced. The IruMafia Edition manga launched in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shonen Champion in 2023, moved to Weekly Shonen Champion in October 2025 on a biweekly pace, and has reached 10 volumes as of October 2026.
The spinoff reworks the original's setup into a mafia story, swapping Sullivan's demon-world adoption for a crime-family succession. Kodansha USA describes the manga as follows:
Iruma-kun, the mob boss?! In this brand-new spinoff of the runaway hit series, Iruma is a dirt-poor but kind young boy who grows up in a ruthless city slum. One day, Iruma gives a severely injured old man his last loaf of bread and nurses the stranger back to health—only to find out that the elder gent is none other than Don Sullivan, leader of the Babel Mafia! Soon after, Don Sullivan comes back, whisks Iruma away, and begs the boy to become his grandson. And just like that, the curtains rise on Iruma's chaotic new life as the next in line to a gigantic gang of—dare we say—demonic mafiosos!
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun: IruMafia Edition premieres on January 4. The main series' fourth season began airing in April 2026, and its announced movie is also on the way.
