The Netflix series, Wednesday, has become one of the most popular shows that were released in 2022, with Season 2 being one of the most anticipated premieres to take place on Netflix. Now, we have a little more to go on regarding the season, owing to Colleen Atwood, the costume designer, who recently shared a couple of strange details regarding the show’s Season 2.
The release date for Wednesday Season 2 still remains a mystery. In the meanwhile, the fans are busy speculating and coming up with their own theories as to what they can expect from Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams. The audience is also hoping that Season 2 will feature the character’s main family members much more than before.
During an interview with Variety, Atwood sort of confirmed that this might just be happening. The costume designer claimed that Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia is going to have much more variety when they were discussing the character’s outfits in Wednesday Season 2. The viewers will get to see Wednesday’s mother in far less formal clothes as compared to Season 1.
Atwood stated, "In season 2 she'll have a lot of looks, so it will be really fun to see what Morticia does when she’s out of the dress and into around-the-house looks." This means that Season 2 is going to be set in the Addams Family mansion, and Wednesday’s parents might just play more prominent roles in the upcoming season.
During Wednesday Season 1, we got a glimpse of the mansion only twice. The first time was during Episode 1 when Wednesday was mourning the loss of her pet scorpion and the second time was in Episode 8 when she was going back to the mansion after solving all of the mysteries.
Atwood went on to explain that she had to dive deep before making the iconic dress of Morticia in Wednesday Season 1. She shared that she had fun working with a very limited color palette, owing to the Addams family being popular for only wearing black. The costume designer said, "When you use black and white you're limited, but if you're going to be limited it's a great world to be limited in. You can juxtaposition the two colors in different ways graphically that can make things look very different."
Wednesday Season 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix, with Season 2 not having an official release date as of yet.
