One of the most anticipated shows coming out on Netflix is Wednesday Season 2 but it is currently facing some setbacks while it is still in production. The whole of the industry was put to a halt when the SAG-AFTRA strike happened and the series was one of those which was affected. Unfortunately, the show got another debacle as one of the cast members left the filming before it even finishes.
Netflix was fast to give the approval button for the second season of Wednesday after the Jenna Ortega-led show rocked the world with her cold remarks and sharp stares plus her impeccable dance moves that everybody wanted more. Wednesday was a huge success and with it coming back means that the rest of the cast were also expected to return as well. However, it was confirmed through a report from Deadline where an MGM representative of a producer of the series revealed that Thora Birch, who plays Tamara Novak, will not be part of the production anymore. The rep said, “Thora has returned to the States to attend to a personal matter and will not be returning to the production.”
In the same report, it was said that Birch is currently dealing with a family illness and while she managed to film a huge chunk of the series as she recently got into a regular role, it remains unknown whether she would be recast especially with her supposed role in Season 2. Netflix still hasn't revealed whether the role would be given to another actor or the character may be scrapped off of the narrative and replaced with a new one. In Wednesday, Thora Birch plays Tamara Novak who is the dorm mother of the titular Addams family member. Tamara is a special character in Wednesday being the only "normie" or person without any supernatural ability in Nevermore Academy.

To date, there is still no official word yet from Netflix or any of those connected to the project when the series will come out but, at least, there is a certainty that Wednesday Season 2 will still push through on the streaming platform with the series almost done with the filming. With the SAG-AFTRA strike still not over, there remains no release date for the series as the whole production was put to a halt. Should the strike be over soon, Wednesday Season 2 could come out around late 2024 at the earliest or could even push as far back as 2025 depending on the circumstances.
The first season of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
