From the 1978 manga series classic of Rumiko Takahashi comes the reboot TV show of Urusei Yatsura which released last year because of the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday. Since the reboot has taken the fans into an enjoyable first season, Urusei Yatsura Season 2 just secured the return of Lum and her uncanny adventures on the small screens. The series just dropped a new trailer and key visuals which contain what to expect in Urusei Yatsura Season 2.
In March 2023, it was revealed that Urusei Yatsura Season 2 has been given a green light. Since the reboot was well-received by the fans across the globe, the wait for the second season gets shorter as confirmed by the new key visuals of the series where Urusei Yatsura Season 2 will be coming out n January 11, 2024. Aside from the trailer, it was also confirmed that Urusei Yatsura Season 2 will be composed of two consecutive cours which means that the series will cover almost the whole half of next year, and that it will not have any break in between the two cours. David Production returned to animate the series. New cast members are also making their debut in Urusei Yatsura Season 2 with M.A.O. as Asuka, Kotono Mitsuishi as Asuka's mother, and Toshiharu Sakurai as Asuka's father. What will Urusei Yatsura Season 2 be about?
Urusei Yatsura follows Lum, a pretty space alien princess who was in a game of tag with Ataru Moroboshi. Tag was just the start, however, as Ataru only has ten days to touch the horns of Lum and defeat her, otherwise, Lum's kind will take over the world. With his involvement to Lum, Ataru became close to the supernatural and ladies from different species came after him like the snow spirit Oyuki and the crow goblin Princess Kurama.
Urusei Yatsura Season 2 forms part of the reboot of the anime series of the same name which ran from 1981 to 1986. It is expected to follow the story of the end of the first season. The original cast, along those new ones mentioned above, will be returning to the small screens. Hideya Takahasi and Yasuhiro Kimura will be back to direct the movie.
