The last three episodes of The Witcher Season 3 are finally here and they were all emotional as they were brutal. It was particularly heartbreaking to say goodbye to Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. However, Volume 2 also delivered the emotional death of a character who has played an important role in the series from the start.

In The Witcher Season 3 Episode 8, Tissaia de Vries surrendered to the grief over Vilgefortz's betrayal which led to the Siege of Aretuza in the aftermath of Conclave Ball. She ultimately decided to commit suicide, but not before leaving a letter for Yennefer of Vengerberg. In the letter, she writes that "one of the first things we learn about Chaos is that it always has consequences. There is a cost to this magic and eventually, we all must pay."
It's a heartbreaking ending for Tissaia, who has played an important role in the show since its first season. However, actor Myanna Buring admitted to GamesRadar that she had always known that Tissaia would meet her end before the series was over.

"When I signed on three seasons ago, almost five years ago, I knew that this was coming," Buring said. "I knew that that was the end. So for me, it was very emotional to do it and it's actually been emotional talking about it today [at the junket]."
Tissaia's death isn't a huge surprise for those who have read Andrzej Sapkowski's books. Still, her passing still had a heartbreaking effect on Yennefer and the viewers. With that in mind, we are truly sad to know that Tissaia will not be back in The Witcher Season 4.
Who dies In The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2?
The Siege of Aretuza was The Witcher at its bloodiest best, and that meant a lot of major kills. Tissaia (MyAnna Buring) herself was responsible for an astonishing explosion of blood and guts when she unleashed her magic on the elven leader Francesca. However, it isn't Francesca who exploded, it's King Filavandrel (Tom Cnaton), who jumped in the way.
The mage Artorius (Terence Maynard)also met his end as he was trying to attack Francesca. This time, it is his own niece Fringilla who stabs him in the stomach, ending their toxic relationship. But perhaps the most satisfying death is that of Rience (Sam woolf), who faced off against Yennefer and although it looked like she was going to surrender, she tosses her sword to Geralt who then decapitates the "fire f-cker".
It is also noted that King Vizimir (Ed Birch) finally met his demise and although he is killed by a minor character (one of Philippa's underlings), it was a clever move that would effectively put Prince Radovid on the throne. Needless to say, we know Philippa is up to something and it could all be revealed in the fourth season.
The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
