The Witcher Producer Possibly Revealed How Geralt Recast is Explained in Season 4

Tomasz Bagiński may have revealed why Geralt does not look like Henry Cavill in The Witcher Season 4

We already know that Geralt of Rivia will be looking a little different in The Witcher Season 4. But how will the Netflix series explain the transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth? Producer Tomasz Bagiński may have revealed how the show can canonically deal with the White Wolf recasting.

As previously announced, Henry Cavill decided to step down as Geralt of Rivia and is handing the black leather over to Liam Hemsworth. The announcement was met with frustration, disappointment, and confusion as to how the series will explain away the Butcher of Blaviken's new face. However, Bagiński teased how the change will be explained properly in the show.

Bagiński recently spoke to the Polish publication Wyborcza to discuss The Witcher Season 3 (via GamesRadar). During the interview, the producer shared how author Andrzej Sapkowski conveniently changed the perspective of the story.

"Many book readers forget what Andrzej Sapkowski did in the fifth volume of the saga. For me, this is one of the most important things in the whole story," Bagiński said. He then added that since the story is being told from another character's point of view, it would only make sense for Geralt to be played by a different actor.

"I’m not talking about specific events, but the narrative framework that was introduced in this book. Suddenly, at the beginning of the book, we learn that everything we’ve read so far might not have been true," Bagiński said. "This cannot be compared with, for example, the currently popular concept of the multiverse, where out of nowhere there are many different realities."

It certainly makes sense and it somehow confirms that The Witcher Season 4 will be shifting the focus on another character. But is it possible that Henry Cavill left the series because it's time for the "real" Geralt to be introduced? For now, the real reason for the departure has not been revealed.
