The Umbrella Academy Season 4 will see the Hargreeves siblings in a new timeline after they reprogrammed the Universe at the end of the third season finale. In this new world, they have lost their powers, missing a few siblings, and are under the watchful eye of their father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore). As the final season still has a lot of questions to answer, showrunner Steve Blackman promises to “explain Hargreeves’ motivations” and please fans.
In an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Blackman teased that The Umbrella Academy Season 4 would address a lot of unanswered questions about the Netflix series. One of the series’ major cliffhangers is the loss of their powers. As they’re about to face new enemies, the creator also revealed they would find a way to make them the superheroes they’re known for again.
“We'll explain Hargreeves' motivations; we'll figure out a way to make them superheroes again, and this apocalypse is different,” he said. “They don't know straight away what they're up against; the fans will be pleased as a lot of questions will be answered this year.”

Though it remains to be seen if the Hargreeves will have their powers back in The Umbrella Academy Season 4, the final season’s trailer shows Viktor (Elliot Page) unleashing an orange glow from his hand. Also, Ben’s (Justin H. Min) tentacles are back, as they emerge from his back as he fights off the enemies. Based on these hints, they're about to regain their powers.
In an interview with Tudum in August 2022, Blackman revealed that losing their powers wasn’t the only oddity in the new timeline. With the coming of the enemies who wanted to see them dead, it would be a question of how they could fight back without their special abilities.
“Is there even a way to get them back?” he asked. “The stakes have never been greater.”
He also addressed Ben’s appearance in the third season’s post-credits scene. He clarified it was Sparrow Ben, but the bigger questions were what he was doing on a Korean subway train and why he was reading a book about pottery. But as this is The Umbrella Academy, his appearance has a deeper meaning that fans will only know about when the fourth and final season releases.
“As every good Umbrella fan knows, no moment in the show exists in isolation,” he continued. “Everything we see has meaning. And this moment is no exception. Ben has a reason to be there… but you’ll have to wait until Season 4 to understand why.”

Based on Gerard Way’s comic book series of the same title, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 will continue where the previous season left off. The siblings will find themselves in a new timeline without their powers. However, as new enemies emerge, how they will handle these threats remains to be seen.
