The Marvels Star Lashana Lynch Addresses Maria Rambeau’s MCU Future After X-Men Related Scene

Lashana Lynch surprised everyone after she made an appearance in the post-credits scene of The Marvels as an alternate version of Maria Rambeau, an X-Men Binary in that universe. Though Maria passed away on Earth-199999, her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t over yet, and it looks like her story may continue. That said, Lynch addresses her character’s future in the MCU after showing her big connection to the X-Men.

In an interview with Screen Rant to promote her new movie Bob Marley: One Love, Lynch revealed she knew she would be part of The Marvels but had no idea what might happen next. “I did know going into the movie. I didn't know what would happen next,” she said.

With the X-Men tease, fans couldn’t help but think that Marvel is probably gearing up for a new X-Men project. The post-credits scene also seemed to tease her possible appearance in the studio's future projects. However, like the viewers, the British actress seems to have no idea about it.

“I don't know anything, literally,” she continued.

Lynch explained that every single increment of the character had been “play-by-play.” So, though she knew about Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and The Marvels, she just had those moments and didn’t even receive scripts for those.

“I know what you know, and that's it,” she added.

Will Maria Rambeau return to the MCU?

So far, there are no words about whether Maria will be seen again in the MCU. However, it’s good to note that The Marvels isn’t the first time she appeared in the shared universe. She was seen in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; thus, Lynch might return to reprise her role again in future projects.

If this happens, she may help her daughter, Monica, to return to Earth- 199999 after the Photon gets stuck in another world at the end of The Marvels. Other MCU films may also explore the relationship between Maria and Monica, especially after the former was surprised after her child called her “mom.”

Is Maria’s world connected to old X-Men movies?

Aside from Maria’s future in the MCU, there are also questions if the world she’s in is connected to old X-Men films. As Kelsey Grammer played another variation of Beast again in The Marvels, it looks like it’s set in the same universe as the 20th Century Fox movie. The same film set was even used, and Charles Xavier was also referenced after the Beast mentioned one of the most powerful mutant telepaths while analyzing Monica’s condition.

By the looks of it, the X-Men are now making their way to the MCU. With the upcoming Deadpool 3, the first Deadpool film that would be part of the MCU and see the journey of Wade Wilson and Wolverine together, it looks like more mutant characters will appear in The Multiverse Saga. Also, The Marvels may not be the last time that fans will see Maria. As she surprisingly pops up in Marvel movies, fans may see more of her in the future projects.
