For so long, fans have been waiting for the continuation of Din Djarin and Grogu’s journey in The Mandalorian Season 4. But instead of a new season renewal news, Lucasfilm has announced the coming of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. Though this makes the future of the Disney+ series hazy, its executive producer, Dave Filoni, finally gives an update about the much-awaited new season and talks about the new Star Wars film.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Filoni admitted that a lot is happening in the Star Wars world today. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Star Wars: The Acolyte, Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3, and Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi are all set to be released this year. With these on Lucasfilm’s plate, many wonder when The Mandalorian Season 4 will be part of the plan. However, instead of giving much concrete news about the new season, Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer just responded vaguely.

“There's so much spinning in the galaxy right now,” he said. “You know me better than to commit to any one thing; no mind trick works on me.”

Filoni then discussed the other projects the studio is currently working on, revealing he’s excited about what they’re doing. From there, he talked about the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu, assuring it would be great with The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau as the director.

“With Jon at the helm, it's gonna be fantastic, and he's so well-studied in Star Wars now, so he's got a great shorthand, and I love collaborating with him,” he continued. “Just excited to share the future of what we're doing.”

Will there be The Mandalorian Season 4?

The Mandalorian Season 3 featured a neat ending, with Din Djarin and Grogu seemingly leaving their life as bounty hunters behind them. Mando adopted Grogu as his son, making him his Mandalorian Apprentice and officially naming him Din Grogu. However, with the series’ success, being one of the best-performing original series on Disney+ and a flagship show of the streamer and the Star Wars franchise, there may still be hope for a new season.

Deadline previously reported that the new season is in development alongside The Mandalorian & Grogu. Reliable Star Wars scoopers Bespin Bulletin and Making Star Wars also claimed the same, though the fourth season would allegedly be released before the movie, as the film would serve as the series finale.

To add more fuel to the fire, Favreau told BFMTV Inside that the scripts for The Mandalorian Season 4 were already done even before the third season ended. In fact, its production was supposed to start in September 2023, but the Hollywood strikes put it to a halt, delaying the filming indefinitely.
