It's officially happening: Abby Anderson is making her live-action debut in The Last of Us Season 2. Craig Mazin has confirmed that the second season of the video game adaptation has found the perfect actor to play the polarizing character. In addition to that, the co-showrunner can't help but gush about the person who will play a truly important figure in the HBO series.
For those who are not familiar with the game, Abby Anderson is a character featured in The Last of Us Part II who takes on an antagonistic role in Naughty Dog's second installment of the video game series. She is also an important character in pushing Ellie's story forward in the games so she is set to be a huge addition to the live-action adaptation.
But who will play Abby in The Last of Us Season 2? Craig Mazin recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter where he somehow admitted that he and co-showrunner Neil Druckmann had already found Abby and were preparing to announce the news. Moreover, Mazin couldn't help but praise the latest cast addition.

"[It] stopped us in our tracks. Things were in process," Mazin said. He went on to point out that Abby's casting was the most important thing about the second season of The Last of Us.
"Look, Abby was the first role that we wanted to tackle. We've got a pretty good track record of making major cast announcements and people going, 'Really?' which will probably continue. So people may disagree, but I think we got it right so far and the audience seems to feel we got it right," Mazin said.
It's an exciting tease for The Last of Us Season 2 and an awesome way to hype up Abby's arrival. For those who have already played the game, Abby is going to be an important addition to the series and we can't wait to see her live-action debut in the show.
But when can we expect to see Abby's live-action debut? For now, The Last of Us Season 2 has not begun production and it is still unclear if the series will begin filming soon due to the writers' and actors' strike. However, the second season is still expected to premiere on HBO late next year or in early 2025.
