Marvel Studios is now gearing up for the production of The Fantastic Four after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019. After a long process, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announcing the reboot's development in the said year, the movie is finally shaping up, and its cast was officially announced earlier this year. As many are now excited to see Marvel’s First Family return, the film’s stars Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Johnny Storm / the Human Torch and Ben Grimm / The Thing, respectively, give an update on their preparations to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with ComicBook, Quinn revealed that it had been a wonderful experience to be part of Marvel’s The Fantastic Four. Though he couldn’t give anything away, he teased that the movie’s script was “amazing” and they were all “going for it.” And despite the excitement, he couldn’t deny that he, too, was nervous about taking on the role of the hot-headed hero, the Human Torch.
“It's been a wonderful experience so far. We've got a wonderful gang on it with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, to name but a few,” he said. “I'm very excited. I'm nervous, obviously. I'm really looking forward to getting into it. The script is amazing.”
Quinn is now dominating the big screen after becoming a Stranger Things breakout star following his perfect portrayal of the fan-favorite idiosyncratic leader Eddie Munson. Before fans see him working alongside The Fantastic Four’s main cast, Pascal, Kirby, and Moss-Bachrach, he will be first seen in the prequel A Quiet Place: Day One and Gladiator II.
Alternatively, Moss-Bachrach returns to Marvel after playing the role of David Lieberman / Micro in The Punisher. After being an ally of The Punisher, he will soon be seen as The Thing in The Fantastic Four. So, to effectively portray his character in the MCU reboot, he told The Daily Show that he’s now researching about Ben Grimm through Marvel Comics.
“I'm playing Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing, who is a man encased in rock. So, yeah, I don't know, I've just been looking at rocks,” he said while promoting The Bear Season 3. “I've been reading a lot of comics. It's really nice. They gave me this Marvel Unlimited thing, so I can just go on my iPad, and go to any comic book that Marvel's ever released.”

What to Expect from The Fantastic Four
So far, Marvel Studios has remained mum about what The Fantastic Four is. However, as hinted by its marketing stints, it seems to tease that it’s about to make something new about this team of superheroes compared to the past movie adaptations.
For one, when it announced its main cast members in February, they were all wearing 1960s costumes, leading to questions about what period it would be set in. By the looks of it, Marvel plans to give it a new take to avoid the issues its predecessors have faced. Of course, as they’re about to join the MCU, Marvel must also explain their absence in the present timeline and how they will end up in the Multiverse.
Whether The Fantastic Four takes place in the present timeline or the 1960s remains to be seen. However, as the film's production is set to start in July in the UK, more details about the movie may finally be released.
The Fantastic Four is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
