The Crown Season 6 will finally premiere next month, and Netflix is hyping up the series’ final installment. The streamer has now released a new trailer for the first part of the upcoming new season, teasing the events that led to Princess Diana’s death, and it’s every inch hair-raising.

The trailer begins with Princess Diana playing the piano, looking so confused as she questions herself how she ends up in her situation. The media is then seen following her everywhere she goes with the growing interest in her new relationship with Dodi Fayed, whether in the middle of the sea or inside a vehicle. “The press are on our tails constantly,” she says on the phone.

Queen Elizabeth then reveals all she wants for her former daughter-in-law is to find peace. Amid all the chaos, Prince William is then seen asking her mother on the phone if she’s okay. “I’m okay,” she assures. “It has all been a bit mad recently.”

As Queen Elizabeth tells Princess Diana she has finally succeeded in turning the house upside down, she contradicts it by saying it was never her intention. From there, the calls begin in the middle of the night as the mansion lights up and the news about Princess Diana’s death comes in. “This is gonna be the biggest thing that any of us has ever seen,” Prince Charles declares.

The Crown Season 6 Part 1 to Feature Princess Diana’s Final Days

The Crown Season 6 Part 1 will close the chapter of one of the series’ most iconic characters: Princess Diana. It will feature the final weeks of the People's Princess’ life, leading to her unexpected demise on August 31, 1997.

Talking about Princess Diana’s final days, Elizabeth Debicki told Tudum it was a unique challenge as an actor to portray the remaining days of her character’s life. Alternatively, the premiere episode director, Alex Gabassi, described the final season’s first part as a “three-part tragedy.” He even warned that what fans are about to see is very different from what they’ve seen in this show before, adding it has almost turned into a thriller series.
