The Apothecary Diaries is one of the most popular anime series airing this season, and fans are excited to watch its seventh episode, which is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, November 18 in North America and other regions. TOHO Animation and OLM are in charge of the animation of the romance drama, and today, the official website of the anime has released a preview for Episode 7, which is titled Homecoming. As you can see in the teaser trailer below, Maomao is on the move to investigate a container that had poison, and it looks like the story is about to get more complicated.

One morning, after the events of the garden party, Maomao received a request from Gaoshun to investigate a container that had poison. She noticed that Concubine Lishu was being bullied by her maids. Maomao has also heard from Xiaolan that by using the hairpins she received from the Garden Part, she can leave the inner palace and thought of using that chance to go home. However, Jinshi, who was troubled by the incidents that were occurring one after another, went to visit Maomao, not knowing that she had already left the palace.
What is The Apothecary Diaries about?
The anime is based on The Apothecary Diaries (Japanese: Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Since 2011, the series has been serialized on Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, and in the following year, Shufunotomo acquired the rights to the series, and published it as a novel iwth a single volume in 2012 and then as a light novel series in 2014. The romance drama is set in a fictional country based on ancient China. The series received a manga adaptation with story by Itsuki Nanao and art by Nekokurage, and it was published by Square Enix, which serialized it in Monthly Big GanGan.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime series, and provided the following story description for The Apothecary Diaries:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
