At AnimeJapan 2024 this on Saturday, a new teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated second season of Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online TV anime series was released, officially confirming the anime's October 2024 premiere in Japan. The second season of the Sword Art Online spin-off will premiere six years after the first season debuted in April 2018.
As previously reported, the cast of the first season will reprise their roles with Tomori Kusunoki (Llenn), Yoko Hikasa (Pitohui), Chinatsu Akasaki (Fukaziroh), and Kazuyuki Okitsu (M). A stunning new key visual for Season 2 has also been revealed, featuring the featuring Llenn, the in-game avatar of the protagonist Karen Kohiruimaki:

The second season of Gun Gale Online was officially announced in July 2023, during the 30th Dangeki Bunko Summer Festival that was held on ABEMA TV. Season 1 director Masayuki Sakoi will return to direct at Studio 3Hz. Other anime titles Studio 3Hz worked on are Healer Girl, The Devil is A Part-Timer!!, The Marginal Service and more. Season 1 aired in Spring 2018 anime season, and it ran for 12 episodes.
What is Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online about?
Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online anime is based on Keiichi Sigsawa’s Sōdo Āto Onrain Orutanatibu Gangeiru Onrain (Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online) light novel series, and it follows Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student who plays a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute avatar she has always wanted. Venturing on a digital landscape far more like Apex Legends versus Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft, Karen discovers more than she bargained for. It's a spin-off series to the Sword Art Online light novel series by Reki Kawahara.
