The anime universe of Sword Art Online is so massive that it was able to expand on its universe with a spin-off anime that traded fantasy visuals for more modern aesthetic on the virtual world. Today, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online Season 2 has officially been announced during the 30th Dangeki Bunko Summer Festival that was held on July 15 on ABEMA TV.
A new teaser visual has been revealed to hype up fans of the Sword Art Online spin-off, and as you can see below, it features the anime's protagonist, Karen Kohiruimaki, a.k.a Llenn:
Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online Season 2 Details
Gun Gale Online Season 2 is part of Sword Art Online's 10th-anniversary project. The main staff members and voice actors from the anime's first season are returning for Season 2. Voice actor Tomori Kusunoki is slated to return as Karen Kohiruimaki.
Masayuki Sakoi, who directed the first season of the spin-off, will be returning to direct the second season. Masayuki also shared a new illustration to commemorate the announcement of the new season:

Gun Gale Online Season 1 aired in Spring 2018 anime season, and it consisted of 12 episodes from Studio 3Hz, the animation company who will also return to produce Season 2. Other anime titles Studio 3Hz worked on are The Devil is A Part-Timer!!, The Marginal Service, Healer Girl, and more.

What is Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online about?
Based on Keiichi Sigsawa’s Sōdo Āto Onrain Orutanatibu Gangeiru Onrain (Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online) light novel series, the anime follows Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student who plays a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute avatar she has always wanted. Venturing on a digital landscape far more like Apex Legends versus Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft, Karen discovers more than she bargained for. It's a spin-off series to the Sword Art Online light novel series by Reki Kawahara.
