There’s a major change of plan for Daisy Ridley’s upcoming new movie, Young Woman and the Sea. Originally planned to have a direct-to-Disney+ premiere, the film will now head to the theaters and have a limited theatrical run starting on May 31.

According to Deadline, Young Woman and the Sea scored in the high 90s in test screenings, which led to its release in theaters. The film will also have a marketing campaign fit for a limited series, and a source revealed it would have a “tentpole push.” It will be later released on Disney+, though the release date is yet to be announced.

It was earlier reported that Disney was considering a theatrical release for the Ridley-starring film, a first for a Disney+ movie. The studio was even eyeing to give it a big global campaign, which would be in time for the Summer Olympics 2024. But with this change, the cast members need to review their deals, as the film will now hit the theaters instead of a streamer.

She was the first woman to swim 21 miles across the English Channel. After swimming 22 miles from Battery Park in New York to Sandy Hook, NJ, she decided to take this feat, setting a record that nobody had surpassed for 81 years.
