The Lando Calrissian standalone series was one of the most exciting Star Wars shows that was announced during Disney's Investor Day. However, we haven't heard anything about the project since then. So what exactly is happening with the spin-off show? Justin Simien has spoken up about the planned series and his update is truly unexpected.
Back in 2020, it was revealed that Lando Calrissian is getting his own live-action show after the character's newfound popularity in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Justin Simien would write the story for the new show while Donald Glover was expected to reprise his role as Han Solo's old friend.
Although people immediately loved the idea of a Lando series, the updates about the project were few and far between. Disney and Lucasfilm have not even officially confirmed Donald Glover's involvement in the show. And if we're to believe Simien, the studios love the plan but have paused the show's development for now.

"I certainly poured my heart and spent a lot of time working with them to put together a really great show," Simien told The Direct. "It feels like everybody loves it."
He continued by revealing that the project is on hold because of scheduling problems that seem to be extended indefinitely.
"And, you know, I was told we had to put a pause on it because of scheduling, and the next update I got [was in 2020], some years ago," Simien said. "So I don't know, I have no idea what's going on with it."
It's a disappointing update considering that people believed the series was being developed all this time. On the other hand, Disney had already confirmed that there will be fewer Star Wars projects in production so there is a possibility that the studio is pushing Lando back in favor of other bigger projects.
For now, it is unclear what Disney intends to do with Lando. Keep checking this page for updates on this story.
