Katee Sackhoff plays a major role as Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Mandalorian. First introduced in Season 2 Episode 3, The Heiress, she works with Din Djarin to recover the Darksaber, save Grogu, and defeat Moff Gideon. Given her importance in the series, many wonder if she will return in the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu alongside Din Djarin and his adopted child. While it remains to be seen if this will happen, Sackhoff addresses her possible appearance in the next Star Wars movie.
In an interview with ComicBook about her role in DC’s upcoming Watchmen animated film, Sackhoff was asked if she would be part of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Knowing that Lucasfilm has kept its future projects under lock and key, nothing is known about this film besides its titular characters. As a result, the actress remains tight-lipped, and given the secrecy surrounding the film, she knows she will be in trouble if she says anything.
“Number one, if I knew, I wouldn't tell you,” she said. “And if I did tell you, they'd probably kill me.”
Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie to hit the big screen after J.J. Abrams’ 2019 Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. As a Mandalorian herself, Bo-Katan has become one of the major faces of the series. So, though there are still questions about who will appear in the film, it will be a surprise if Bo-Katan is not a part of it.
Star Wars Gives a Glimpse of The Mandalorian and Grogu at D23 2024
Lucasfilm gave a glimpse of The Mandalorian and Grogu at the recent D23 2024 by releasing its first-ever trailer, providing a good look at the bounty hunter and his son. As detailed by The Direct, the preview began by featuring some of the most iconic scenes from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, such as the introduction of Grogu and his first meeting with Mando.
But after Mando said in a voiceover that they were bounty hunters by trade but would be selective about his assignments now that he was with Grogu, an action-packed scene from the movie was revealed. Snow Troopers appeared, and the live-action introduction of Zeb followed, as the latter piloted a ship while donning a New Republic uniform.
“Good luck,” he told Mando and Grogu.
Mando then strutted down the hallway while Grogu crawled through a small shaft. A lengthy action sequence followed as the duo boarded an AT-ST and traversed rocky, snow-covered terrain believed to be Hoth. They later slid to a stop underneath AT-ATs. The trailer then cut to black, displayed the film’s title card, and revealed an adorable stinger featuring Grogu and two Anzellans.
As Disney+’s flagship series and one of the most successful Star Wars shows, many are now looking forward to seeing The Mandalorian and Grogu. While details about the movie remain scarce, there’s no denying that it has already generated incredible excitement among fans.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to release in theaters on May 22, 2026.
