After the success of the 2019 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts released the sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in 2023. Like its predecessor, the second game receives generally positive reviews from critics and players alike. Many are now waiting for it to hit the EA Play subscription platform, and it looks like it will soon happen after a leak reveals it’s now available in some PlayStation regions.

IGN confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is now available on EA Play on PlayStation in the UK. Though EA has yet to announce its release on its subscription platform, it has already been added to other regions on the PlayStation store. It’s even labeled “Included with EA Play.”

However, with a theory that it may only be available on EA Play starting on May 4 in celebration of Star Wars Day, there may either be a change of plan or an error on the game developer’s side. Reddit user r/nicksuperdx revealed that the game isn’t available on the Xbox Store or the EA app, so this addition may only be a bug.

“Enjoy it before EA takes it away,” the Redditor said.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is also set to release on Xbox Game Pass, considering that games released on EA Play will also become available on the Xbox subscription catalog. However, EA Play games are only available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, so not all members will have access to it.

When will EA release Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on EA Play?

EA usually adds its own games to EA Play a year after their original release date. So, as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor officially launched on April 28, 2023, it might be the right time to hit the subscription platform this month. Hence, an official announcement may happen soon, especially since the title now appears on the PS Store in other regions.

The leak comes after EA announced a price hike for EA Play starting May 10, 2024. From the standard price of $4.99 per month, it will increase to $5.99 next month. For subscribers who opt to pay annually, the new price will be $39.99 from $29.99. In addition, the Pro Tier will see an increase of $16.99 from $14.99 monthly or $119.99 from $99.99 annually.

What is the gameplay of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a third-person galaxy-spanning action-adventure game. It takes place five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It continues Jedi Knight Cal Kestis’ journey as he and his friends fight to survive the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. The sequel features three key features: Continue Kal’s Journey, Go Beyond Your Training, and Explore an Untamed Galaxy.

Though it has retained its predecessor’s gameplay mechanics, it introduces new elements. This time, Cal has access to five different lightsabers, each with unique features. Cal’s Force Slow ability is now an ultimate ability that can be used to slow the character’s surroundings in a battle. In addition, player cosmetic customization is expanded, while the level design is larger, with more expansive maps.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. What do you think of the game's early addition to EA Play? By the looks of it, EA may have added the game early to alleviate the EA Play subscribers’ anger over the incoming price increase.
