Squid Game Season 2 Netflix Release Date Revealed With Teaser; Season 3 Release Window Confirmed

Netflix has revealed when the highly-anticipated Squid Game Season 2 will be released on its streaming service. The South Korean survival dystopian series took the world by storm when the nine-episode first season was released on Netflix on September 21, 2021, and it didn't take long for the streaming giant to renew the show for a second season. Earlier this year, Netflix shared casing updates and other announcements for both new and returning characters, and now, it's finally been revealed during the Olympic Games season that Squid Game Season 2 will be released on Netflix beginning this December, and a special trailer was dropped to announce it.

Squid Game Season 2 will officially stream on Netflix starting on December 26, 2024, and Netflix has also announced that the series will be returning for a third and final season in 2025. The ominous trailer released today to celebrate the announcement features several contestants in their iconic green jumpsuits running on track while a few can be seen falling. The black-masked Front Man also appears with a group of masked guards in red jumpsuits.

"It's been three years. Do you want to play again?," The Front Man asks. Then the teaser reminds us that "The real game begins" before showing the Season 2 title and its release date. Finally, we see the return of the gigantic and deadly robot doll known as Young-hee, who first appeared in the first game featured in Season 1, Red Light, Green Light. Squid Game Season 2 Cast

Lee Jung-jae is set to return as Seong Gi-Hun, the protagonist of the first season. Other returning characters include Lee Byung-Hun (Front Man), Gong Yoo (unnamed recruiter for the deadly games), and Wi Ha-jun (Hwang Jun-Ho). As for the newcomers, the confirmed additions in currently unconfirmed roles are Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Yim Si-Wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.

Original Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is confirmed to return as director and executive producer for Season 2. With only a few months until the release of Squid Game Season 2, expect Netflix to drop more trailers and other previews soon.
